‘Vice Squad’ Star Passed Away At 78

Wings Hauser has passed away at the age of 78. His wife, Cali Lili Hauser, shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday, March 19. In a heartfelt tribute, she reflected on his remarkable career and praised his unwavering dedication to his craft.

Wings Hauser, born Gerald Dwight Hauser on December 12, 1947, was an American actor, director, and screenwriter known for his intense performances and rugged on-screen presence. He gained recognition in the 1980s and 1990s for his work in action films, thrillers, and television dramas.

Hauser first stepped into the entertainment industry as a musician before transitioning to acting in the 1970s. He made his mark with a breakthrough role in Vice Squad (1982), playing the sadistic pimp Ramrod, a performance that earned him widespread attention. His portrayal of tough, unpredictable characters became a signature, leading to a series of roles in cult action films such as Tough Guys Don’t Dance (1987), Deadly Force (1983), and The Carpenter (1988).

Beyond film, Hauser was a familiar face on television, appearing in popular series like The A-TeamMurder, She WroteHunter, and Roseanne. He also had a recurring role on Beverly Hills, 90210 as J.J. “Jack” McKay, the troubled father of Luke Perry’s character, Dylan McKay.
