Wings Hauser, born Gerald Dwight Hauser on December 12, 1947, was an American actor, director, and screenwriter known for his intense performances and rugged on-screen presence. He gained recognition in the 1980s and 1990s for his work in action films, thrillers, and television dramas.
Hauser first stepped into the entertainment industry as a musician before transitioning to acting in the 1970s. He made his mark with a breakthrough role in Vice Squad (1982), playing the sadistic pimp Ramrod, a performance that earned him widespread attention. His portrayal of tough, unpredictable characters became a signature, leading to a series of roles in cult action films such as Tough Guys Don’t Dance (1987), Deadly Force (1983), and The Carpenter (1988).

Beyond film, Hauser was a familiar face on television, appearing in popular series like The A-Team, Murder, She Wrote, Hunter, and Roseanne. He also had a recurring role on Beverly Hills, 90210 as J.J. “Jack” McKay, the troubled father of Luke Perry’s character, Dylan McKay.
In addition to acting, Hauser explored directing and screenwriting, showcasing his passion for storytelling. He continued working steadily through the 2000s, appearing in independent films and guest-starring on TV. Hauser was married to actress and musician Cali Lili Hauser.
