“They had one liver, one bladder, and one stomach for two.” Here are pictures of the Indian Siamese twins after surgery.
This article is about Siamese twins who were born with organs and bones that were identical. They have the same liver, stomach, bladder, and some pelvic bones.
In India, where shady beliefs and superstitions are very common, people often have mixed feelings about Siamese children.
Sadly, even small differences from the norm can lead to unfair treatment and rejection. This is what happened to Zalte’s family. Neighbors and family members looked down on them and were skeptical.
Though, Zalte’s mother promised from the start to love and care for her children no matter what, no matter how they lived. So that people wouldn’t look at or judge them, the parents hid the twins from everyone for the first year of their lives. When they finally went outside, steps were taken to hide the fact that they were sick.
Even though having the same body made things harder, the twins were strong and happy from a very young age.
Even though they had different personalities—one liked to sleep at different times than the other—as they got older, they learned to work together.
After a lot of discussion among well-known doctors across the country, it was decided to separate the twins.
When they were only nine months old, their parents’ dream came true, even though it seemed impossible at the time. The surgery went perfectly and there were no problems at all.
The boys, named Prince and Love, are now three and a half years old and live busy lives. They play with other kids and are slowly getting used to being on their own. Thanks to the skill of Indian doctors and nurses, they have been able to thrive and live life to the fullest, despite the difficulties that came with their unique situations.
