A blonde was driving down a quiet country road one afternoon, humming along to the radio and enjoying the drive.

Everything was going perfectly.

Then suddenly, she looked up.

There was a tree directly in front of her.

She panicked.

“Oh no!”

She yanked the steering wheel hard to the left.

For one glorious second, she thought she had avoided disaster.

Then she looked up again.

The tree was still there.

Now she really started to panic.

“How did it move over there?!”

She quickly swerved to the right.

The car bounced across the road.

She looked up once more.

The tree was still directly in front of her.

At this point, she became convinced she was dealing with the fastest and most determined tree in the entire forest.

Left.

Right.

Left again.

Finally, she lost control of the car and rolled into a ditch.

A short time later, a Police Officer arrived at the scene.

He found the blonde standing beside the car, shaken but thankfully unhurt.

“What happened?” he asked.

She immediately started explaining.

“There was a tree in the road! Every time I swerved to avoid it, it moved right back in front of me!”

The officer looked down the road.

Then he looked around the car.

There wasn’t a tree anywhere near the road.

He leaned closer to the windshield.

Then he smiled.

The officer kindly explained that the tree was the green air freshener hanging off her rear view mirror.
