Married life after 60 can be full of understanding, patience, and little surprises.
An older husband and wife arrived at the airport for a non-stop long-haul flight. They had packed carefully, arrived on time, and were looking forward to the journey.
At the check-in counter, the airline staff looked at their tickets, typed something into the computer, and suddenly seemed very apologetic.
The staff member looked at the husband and said, “I am very sorry, sir, but the flight is really full today. Unfortunately, we couldn’t allot you and your wife adjacent seats.”
The husband raised his eyebrows.
The staff continued, “Your seat number is 14A, and madam’s seat is 42H.”
For a moment, the husband said nothing. He looked at the boarding passes, then looked at the staff member.
Then, with a completely serious face, he asked, “Oh, thanks. Do I have to pay anything extra to you for this favour?”
The airline staff smiled politely and replied, “No, sir. Madam has already paid.”
