A widowed Jewish lady, still elegant and in very good shape, was sunbathing one afternoon on a quiet, deserted beach near Tel Aviv.
The sun was warm, the sea was calm, and for once, there was almost nobody around. She was enjoying the silence when she noticed a man about her age walking along the sand.
He was also in good shape, nicely dressed for the beach, and had a calm, pleasant look about him. He placed his blanket not far from hers, sat down, opened a book, and began reading.
The woman glanced at him a few times, smiled to herself, and decided there was no harm in starting a conversation.
“Hello there,” she said warmly. “Enjoying the day?”
The man looked up from his book and smiled politely.
“Yes,” he replied. “The sun is beautiful, the sea is wonderful… it’s a perfect day. And you?”
“Perfect,” she said. “I love coming here when it’s quiet.”
They chatted for a few minutes about the weather, the beach, and how peaceful everything was.
Then, after a short pause, she leaned a little closer and lowered her voice.
“Tell me something,” she whispered. “Are you circumcised?”
The man looked up from his book, slightly surprised, and answered honestly.
“No, I’m not.”
The woman smiled and said, “Well, then, you’re not missing much!”
