Jon Stewart can’t hold back his tears

Fans are thrilled that Jon Stewart is back hosting The Daily Show after a long break. There have been a lot of laughs, but last night’s episode also had a very touching moment from the host.

Stewart broke down in tears when he told everyone that his beloved three-legged rescue dog Dipper had died.

At the end of Monday’s Daily Show, Stewart stopped making fun of politics like he always does and told the audience a personal story. He thought back to when his two kids were 12 or 13 years old and wanted to raise money for Animal Haven, a no-kill animal shelter in New York City.

People from the shelter brought out one of their dogs, a brindle pit bull puppy that was 1 year old and had lost his right leg after being hit by a car in Brooklyn. The family set up a stand outside the shelter to sell cupcakes.

“I thought I’d get further,” Stewart joked to the crowd as he started to cry as he remembered his first meeting with his beloved dog. He pulled a tissue box out from under his desk.

Then he said that he and his family took the dog home that day and named him Dipper. Smith says, “He was the best of all the good boys.”

He would bring the dog to work with him every day, and Dipper was a member of the “OG Daily Show dog crew.” He became a regular on Stewart’s Daily Show over the years and got to meet many of the show’s famous guests.

“Dipper would wait for me to finish,” Stewart said. “And he met rock stars, writers, presidents, and kings.”

Stewart joked, “And he did—he did what the Taliban couldn’t do: he scared Malala Yousafzai.” He then showed a video of Dipper scaring the Nobel Peace Prize winner behind the scenes of the show.

A strong feeling Stewart then said that Dipper had died on Sunday, with his family by his side. “He was all set. Smith says, “He was tired, but I wasn’t.”

He tells the crowd, “My wish for you is that one day you find that dog.” “That dog. Also, he’s the best.

At the end of the show, he showed footage of Dipper having a great time playing in the snow for the “Moment of Zen.”

Stewart, 61, was the host of The Daily Show from 1999 to 2015. He won 22 Primetime Emmy Awards and made the late-night Comedy Central show a political comedy institution. He came back to the show this month as executive producer and host of the Monday nights’ shows. He will stay on until the election.

Stewart loves animals more than just his rescue dog Dipper. He and his wife Tracey also turned their 45-acre farm into a safe place for animals that have been abused.

It’s always sad to say goodbye to a dog that you love, and our thoughts are with Jon Stewart and his family as they go through this. Thanks for taking Dipper in and giving him a great home all those years ❤🏏
