Sharon Osbourne recently opened up about why she had to miss a special tribute to her late husband Ozzy. She explained that an unexpected hospital stay kept her from attending the unveiling of his statue at the Hellfest music festival in France.
The event took place on June 18, right around the time of the first anniversary of Ozzy’s passing at age 76. Sharon took to Instagram that day to share her regrets along with a video of the stunning sculpture.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t be at Hellfest for the unveiling of Ozzy’s statue,” she wrote. “Unfortunately I had an unexpected trip to the hospital earlier in the week.”
She made sure to express her gratitude to everyone involved. Sharon thanked Olivier Garnier, Ben Barbaud, and the whole Hellfest team, along with a special shoutout to sculptor Philippe Pasqua for creating such a beautiful piece.
While she didn’t go into specifics about her latest hospital visit, fans know Sharon has always been pretty open about her health challenges over the years. Back in late 2022, she had a scary medical emergency that landed her in the hospital. A month later, she recalled on The Talk how she had passed out during filming and ended up getting thoroughly checked out at multiple facilities, though doctors never pinpointed exactly what caused it.
Even without being there in person, Sharon is doing everything she can to keep Ozzy’s memory alive. She and their son Jack have been working on plans for an AI avatar of the rock legend. As she explained at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, people will be able to chat with it and hear responses in Ozzy’s own voice, based on what he would actually say.

When some folks criticized the idea, Sharon pushed back during an episode of The Osbournes podcast. She made it clear this wasn’t about money but about preserving her husband’s spirit for the family, especially their grandkids.
Ozzy Osbourne, born John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham, England, in 1948, became a heavy metal icon as the frontman of Black Sabbath. His life was full of highs and lows, from his early marriages and battles with addiction to his long, loving relationship with Sharon. Together they raised Aimee, Kelly, and Jack while navigating the chaos of fame through their reality show and beyond. Ozzy continued performing despite health struggles like Parkinson’s until his final Black Sabbath show in 2025, passing away shortly after.

Sharon herself built an impressive career managing bands and becoming a familiar face on TV as a judge and host. Like Ozzy, she faced her own health battles, including colon cancer in 2002 and a preventive double mastectomy years later. Through it all, their bond remained strong, with Sharon often calling them two oddballs who found each other and made it work.
The Osbourne family continues to honor his legacy in their own ways, keeping his spirit alive for generations to come.
