Story: Two deaf men

Two deaf men were sitting together in a small coffee shop, enjoying their drinks and catching up.

After a while, the conversation turned to marriage.

One of them signed to the other, “My wife was furious with me last night.”

His friend raised his eyebrows and signed back, “What happened?”

The first man sighed and continued, “She started arguing with me, and she just wouldn’t stop. She went on and on for what felt like forever.”

His friend nodded knowingly.

The first man added, “I tried to stay calm, but she kept signing faster and faster. I thought the argument would never end.”

The second man smiled slightly.

“When my wife gets angry like that,” he signed, “I just don’t listen.”

The first man looked surprised.

“How do you manage that?” he asked. “You can’t exactly plug your ears.”

The second man leaned back, took a sip of coffee, and signed:

“It’s easy. I turn off the light.”
