Two fishermen were enjoying a quiet afternoon on the lake.
The sun was shining, the water was calm, and neither man had caught anything worth bragging about.
They were sitting in their little boat, discussing bait, weather, and all the enormous fish they claimed to have caught in previous years.
At one point, the first fisherman reached into his pocket for something.
His wallet slipped from his hand.
“NO!”
It bounced once off the side of the boat and dropped straight into the lake.
Both men leaned over desperately.
But before either of them could reach it, a large carp appeared beneath the surface.
The fish swam upward and smacked the wallet with its head, sending it flying into the air.
The fishermen stared.
Before the wallet could fall back into the water, another carp jumped up a few feet away and knocked it into the air again.
“What in the world…?”
Then a third carp joined in.
Soon, the three fish were batting the wallet back and forth between them as if they had been practicing for years.
Left.
Right.
Back again.
The first fisherman watched helplessly as his money, credit cards, and driver’s license became part of an aquatic sporting event.
The second fisherman stared for a few seconds, clearly impressed.
Then he nudged his friend and said,
“Hey, look! Carp-to-carp wallet!”
