Aspiring model Mahogany Geter was born with a rare condition that left her with a 100-pound leg.
A rare genetic abnormality was present at birth in Mahogany Geter. She was left with a 100-pound limb as a result. There were several challenges throughout her life.
When Mahogany received a modeling job offer from an agency, her life took a turn for the better. She started promoting body positivity and showing everyone how to appreciate their uniqueness!
Mahogany originates in Tennessee. She was born with lymphedema, a rare condition that results in swelling from an overabundance of fluid in the body’s soft tissues. Geter’s condition resulted in him having a 100-pound leg.
Following her diagnosis, she found it very challenging to walk. Mahogany said, “Of course, being an extra 100 pounds drains my energy. She gets lots of physiotherapy and massages to manage the fibrosis in her leg.
She described her childhood woes as “I’ve been through a very depressed state because you’re a little kid, and you have a bunch of grown adults staring at you.” Mahogany predicted that you would be more psychologically and emotionally affected by it.
“As a child, I never felt pretty,” Mahogany said. “I cried a lot in private and felt hideous, like a freak of nature.” She accepted herself exactly as she was and rejected every procedure that doctors had advised for her.
Mahogany worked at Walmart. Her life improved after she received a modeling job opportunity in 2017. She consented to being photographed after being spotted by a photographer. In order to perhaps help someone else, Mahogany thought, “I’m growing older now, maybe it’s time I start putting my complete body out there.
In a popular YouTube video, mahogany is mentioned. That was the start of her burgeoning career. Her social media activity immediately attracted a sizable following. Mahogany said, “For the most part, I’ve had a lot of nice feedback, and the ones I appreciate the most are that it helps individuals who also feel bad about themselves.
Mahogany keeps her positive outlook and urges everyone else to do the same. She wants people to cherish their uniqueness. Mahogany promotes body positivity and encourages people to love themselves. “On the internet, I’ve received a lot of kind and encouraging messages. It’s not only negativity and trolling, she said.
In order to repay everyone who has ever been good to me, Mahogany said, “If I ever make it big, I want to buy my mom a house and take care of my family, and then I’ll do everything I can to raise lymphedema awareness.”
Mahogany’s struggles have made her more resilient. She uses her sickness as inspiration for others. “I used to feel really bad about myself, but as I grew older, I got a lot of support from the online lymphedema community and my mom, who is my inspiration, and I realized how beautiful I am,” she said. “Not only in appearance, but also as a person,” she clarified.
